About This Course

Qualification Objective The objective of the qualification is to benefit the Learner by educating them about common mental health illnesses such as: Depression Stress Anxiety Eating Disorders Self-Harm Suicide The course will teach learners how to listen to others and provide advice on where to signpost to expert support to assist them in difficult times. This will assist in reducing the stigma associated with mental health problems in the workplace. What’s more, this qualification will prepare learners for further training continuing professional development in mental health. Intended Audience This qualification is for those over the age of 16 and over who have an interest in mental health and would like to raise their awareness and be able to listen and signpost work colleagues to a professional body that can provide support. Suitable for employees in any industry or sector, it is available for managers and team members alike. With an increase in poor mental health, it is important that individuals understand their own mental health and how common mental health concerns can be identified in themselves and others. Learners will develop knowledge of a range of mental health conditions, potential impacts on an individual in the workplace, and where to refer them for help and support. The qualified candidate will be capable of holding a mental health conversation and providing support. Course Requirements There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. Entry is at the discretion of the centre; however, learners should ideally be aged 18 years and over to take this qualification. Where learners are under 18, teaching and content should be adapted accordingly. Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods. There are no other pre-requisites for this qualification. However, learners should be able to work at level 2 and above. Delivery Requirements This qualification is delivered in a face-to-face setting over a 1-day period. Learners should complete the qualification within 4 weeks.
