AED Training
1/2 Day Course
About This Course
AEDs are becoming a much more common sight in both the workplace and in public areas, and learning how to use one could save vital minutes and subsequently save lives. A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and a competent and confident user is on hand. Based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Community Educations Skills 4 Life provides a comprehensive AED training course for staff and businesses. The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to further their first aid skills and wants to be trained in the use of an AED. Whether you are a qualified first aider or not, you are welcome to sign up for the course. Advice on Using an AED An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a safe, reliable, computerised device that can analyse a heart rhythm and enable a non-medically qualified rescuer to safely deliver a life-saving shock to the victim of a cardiac arrest. An AED is now a standard piece of first aid equipment. If someone suffers a cardiac arrest, the presence of an AED, and a small amount of training for your staff, can literally be the difference between life and death. If you have to wait for an ambulance to arrive, your chance of survival is only around 5%. With prompt defibrillation using an AED, however, studies prove the chance of survival can rise to around 75%. With each minute that defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival drops by up to 10% With the introduction of annual refresher training for workplace first aiders, the additional training costs once associated with AEDs have become minimal. Also, in recent years, there has been a significant reduction in the price of AED equipment. These changes have now made this life-saving equipment far more affordable to employers of all sizes, resulting in a significant rise in the number of AEDs located in UK workplaces.
